Joel Madden Talks ‘Sexy’ Nicole & Their Feline Family Addition

Joel Madden loves seeing Nicole Richie kick butt on NBC’s “Chuck,” but he’s having a hard time getting along with their family’s new cat.

Good Charlotte brothers Joel and Benji Madden sat down with Access Hollywood on the set of the music video for their new single, “Like It’s Her Birthday,” and chatted about Nicole’s gritty return to the hit action-comedy.

“I loved her on the last one – I went by and saw her when she was filming that and it looked really cool,” Joel told Access on Monday. “She gets to do all these fight scenes and shoot guns, and she really likes it.”

Though Nicole — Joel’s longtime partner and mother of their two children — may be wielding weapons, the 31-year-old singer said he’s not concerned for the former “Simple Life” star’s safety.

“I don’t worry – she’s got a little crazy streak in her,” he laughed. “She’ll be fine… It’s sexy.”

In addition to reprising her feisty CIA operative role on “Chuck,” Nicole has been busy adding to the Madden-Richie household. She announced the adoption of a stray kitten (whom she dubbed “The glorious Tabitha Jones Madden”) on her blog earlier this month.

“It’s funny that she posted that on the Internet,” Joel said. “I was like, ‘Great. The cat is here to stay,’ because if it’s not, I look like a jerk that got rid of the poor cat.”

Tabitha will remain a part of their family, though Joel is “not a big cat fan.”

“The cat stares me down everyday,” he said. “When I was leaving to come here the thing stares and hisses at me, and I’m like, ‘I didn’t even say anything to you!”

“Just another mouth to feed though, isn’t it, brother?” joked Benji.

“Gotta make two more videos for the cat,” Joel laughed.

Nicole’s “Chuck” episode is slated to air in October, and Good Charlotte’s long-awaited new album, “Cardiology,” hits stores on October 26.
