John Edwards’ Mistress: GQ Spread Is ‘Repulsive’

The mistress of former presidential candidate John Edwards, Rielle Hunter, says she is repulsed by the photos used in her new GQ interview.

According to “The View” co-host Barbara Walters, Rielle spoke with her on Monday morning and said she “cried for two hours” after seeing the photos in GQ – shot by famed photographer Mark Seliger – and calls the shots “repulsive.”

When asked about why she agreed to pose in a collared white dress shirt and no pants, she told Barbara, “I went with the flow,” and that she trusted Seliger, Barbara said on Monday during “The View.”

In the GQ interview released today, Hunter did not say if she and the former presidential candidate are still together, but said that she believes their love will last a lifetime.

“I know he loves me. I have never had any doubt at all about that,” Hunter said. “We love each other very much. And that hasn’t changed, and I believe that will be till death do us part.”

Hunter told GQ that she feels “such compassion” for the former senator’s wife, Elizabeth Edwards, who has been battling breast cancer, but says the Edwards’ martial problems existed before she came into the picture.

“Infidelity doesn’t happen in healthy marriages. The break in the marriage happens before the infidelity. And that break happened, you know, two and a half decades before I got there,” she said. “So the home was wrecked already. I was not the Home Wrecker.”

John and Elizabeth Edwards legally separated in January.

When questioned about Edwards’ reliability and truthfulness, Hunter claimed that the former North Carolina senator is always honest with her.

“He doesn’t lie to me. He discloses everything to me,” she said. “He does not lie to me. At all. We have trust. We trust each other.”

The duo has a 2-year-old daughter together, Frances Quinn Hunter, who Hunter says Edwards is a “great father” to.

Hunter said that she and Edwards do not have plans to marry as of yet.

“To date we have not spoken about any wedding plans,” she said, adding, “I want whatever life brings me.”
