John Stamos Returns To NBC On ‘SVU,’ Heading Back To ‘Glee’ Next Week

John Stamos was thrust into the Charlie Sheen headlines mix when reports emerged late last week that the actor was being considered for a new, Sheen replacement role on, “Two and a Half Men,” but it appears the former “ER” star’s own schedule is heating up on other networks.

Stamos is heading to NBC, for a guest appearance on the Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni lead series, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

In the episode, titled “Bang,” Stamos will play an adoption attorney “with a secret passion,” according to the network. Stamos’ appearance marks his return to the world of NBC dramas, his first since “ER” ended in April 2009.

The episode also stars former “Footloose” star Lori Singer, playing a mother “who is struggling with… increased responsibilities.” An airdate has not been set for the episode, which is currently in production.

While in New York City, Stamos will also film a role in the ensemble cast movie, “New Year’s Eve,” from director Garry Marshall, Stamos’ rep confirmed to Access Hollywood. The all-star ensemble project, the follow up to “Valentine’s Day,” also stars Ashton Kutcher, Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Biel and Stamos’ “Glee” castmate, Lea Michele.

“last LA look as I head to recreate new years eve with god father Garry Marshall & bring some Law and Order to NY,” Stamos Tweeted on Wednesday, before heading to the East Coast.

While Stamos films his roles in New York City, fans can find the actor returning to “Glee” next week.

The actor will reprise his role as Dr. Carl Howell, the hunky dentist husband of school guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury (Jayma Mays), on Tuesday’s episode of “Glee.” The episode also features the return of Gwyneth Paltrow’s character Holly Holliday, who will tango with Matthew Morrison’s character Will Schuester.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, earlier this week, Sheen revised his thoughts on Stamos and the rumors over the former “Full House” hunk potentially taking over on “Two and a Half Men.”

“I was out of line and you’re a beautiful man, and a talented man, and if you get the gig, we should talk,” Sheen told Los Angeles’ KTLA News on Wednesday.

It was in an interview with Access Hollywood’s own Billy Bush on Monday afternoon, that Sheen first took aim at the potential casting of Stamos on the CBS comedy.

“I love him. I like John, but he doesn’t have what I have and the show sucks if he’s on it,” Sheen told Bush during a 90-minute candid sit down interview at the actor’s home.

“Sorry, just speaking the truth,” Sheen added.

Rumors that Stamos was being courted for the hit sitcom first surfaced late last week, something the guest-starring “Glee” dentist addressed on Twitter last weekend.

“contrary to the rumors, i am not replacing charlie sheen on two and half men. however, martin sheen has asked me to be his son,” Stamos Tweeted at the time.

A new report surfaced on E! News on Monday claiming Stamos had been courted since his Tweet. So far Stamos has not addressed the newest rumor.
