John Travolta & Kelly Preston Feel ‘Blessed’ Over ‘Miracle’ Baby

John Travolta and Kelly Preston are thrilled to have a baby on the way.

“This is a miracle, and we feel blessed,” John, 56, and Kelly, 47, told the latest issue of People magazine.

The couple opened up further about their baby-on-the-way in the mag, saying the joyous news was unexpected.

“We tried for several years, and we didn’t think it was going to happen for us,” the couple said.

The Travoltas lost their beloved first child – Jett – who died in January 2009 after succumbing to a seizure disorder over the New Year’s holiday in the Bahamas.

However, a family friend told the mag the star couple isn’t looking to replace their lost son with the newest addition to the family.

“They can never replace him” the friend said, adding that the Travoltas “always wanted to have more kids.”

The Travolta family – John, Kelly and daughter Ella Bleu, 10 — announced the news last month, just days after two of their beloved family dogs were killed in a tragic accident at an airport. There was some confusion following the initial announcement over the nature of their “new addition” when the news first broke.

John recently addressed rumors the couple were having twins, noting on his Web site that they are only expecting one child.

“Some of the sites are saying that we are having twins. It’s a wonderful idea, but it’s untrue. We are just having one,” a statement posted on John’s Web site said.
