John Travolta’s Teen Son Dies Following Fall At Bahamas Hotel

John Travolta’s 16-year-old son, Jett, has died after suffering a seizure at a hotel in the Bahamas, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The actor and his family were on vacation at the Old Bahama Bay hotel on the Grand Bahama island, when Jett fell and hit his head on the bathtub, a source told Access on Friday at 10 AM PST.

Michael Ossi, an attorney for the Travolta family, later confirmed the teen’s death, noting that Jett had suffered a seizure, which led to the fall.

“Attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene,” Ossi said in a statement to Access.

Following the incident, Jett Travolta, who Ossi said “had a history of seizures,” was taken to Rand Memorial Hospital in the Bahamas.

According to a report released by Bahamian police, officers in Grand Bahama first received information around 11:40 AM local time that Jett “fell ill” and was “en route to Rand Memorial Hospital in Freeport via ambulance.”

“As a result of this report, a team of officers was dispatched to investigate. They received information at the hospital that [Jett] Travolta was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital,” the report stated.

According to the report, Jett was last seen on Thursday, January 1, when “he went to use the bathroom” at the Travolta’s Old Bahama Bay residence.

“He was discovered in the bathroom in an unconscious state around 10 AM on [Friday], January 2, by the caretaker,” the report stated.

Although the report did not indicate if John and Kelly were at the hotel at the time of the incident, attorney Michael Ossi told Access “the Travoltas travel with several full-time nannies.”

When contacted by Access, an employee at the Old Bahama Bay hotel, where Travolta owns several beachfront units, said she was “not allowed to talk about [the incident].”

Bahamian police said an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

A Restview Mortuary source told Access on Saturday that the autopsy is scheduled for Monday, and the body will be brought to the Bahamian mortuary later that day. According to the source, the family wants Jett’s body shipped back.

Michael McDermott, John’s corporate and commercial attorney, told The Associated Press on Saturday that the family hopes to have Jett flown to Ocala, Florida by midweek, where he will likely be buried.

“John and Kelly are still sleeping,” McDermott told the AP on Saturday morning. “They probably stayed up most of the night … It’s heartwrenching. If you knew how much he loved that boy … You could just see it, you could feel it.”

Jett was one of two children for the actor and his wife, Kelly Preston. The couple also has an 8-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.

Kelly’s mother, Linda Carlson, told OK! Magazine on Saturday that Jett was “one of the most special, loving boys.”

“I thank God I had time to spend with him before Christmas,” she told the mag.

And Kelly’s half-brother, Chris Palzis, told OK! the family was “devastated.”

“It’s definitely a bad time. That’s all I have to say,” he said.

Travolta, 54, and Preston, 46, were married in September 1991. Jett was born the following April.
