Jon Bon Jovi ‘Ecstatic’ Over Golden Globe Nomination; Rocker Wrote Nominated Song In One Day

It’s been a whirlwind 12 hours for Jon Bon Jovi – the rocker performed with Bruce Springsteen at Wednesday night’s 12-12-12 concert in New York and was awoken on Thursday with exciting news – he’d been nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Original Song.

“Maybe I’m dreaming, but I’m gonna just stay in this dream world,” Jon told Access Hollywood of his wild Wednesday night/Thursday morning, when he learned his song, “Not Running Anymore” from the upcoming film “Stand Up Guys,” had earned a Globe nomination. “Between last night, and then waking up to hear that the song [was nominated] — it’s great.”

Adding, “I’m pleased. I’m ecstatic!”

Jon said “Not Running Anymore” came to him easily after reading the script, and he got the song down on paper in just one day.

“I asked for [the script] on a Monday, on Tuesday I read it. On Wednesday I wrote the song and on Thursday the movie studio was saying, ‘Wow — this is one of the best songs you’ve ever written,’” he told Access.

“When it comes, it comes,” he continued. “Sometimes you look at that guitar and it says, ‘Not today, boss.’ Other days it says, ‘Come and take me — I’ve got something for you.’”

As for performing with The Boss at the 12-12-12 concert to benefit Sandy relief, Jon said his presence at the star-studded event was a no-brainer as he’s a New Jersey/New York boy through and through.

“If I weren’t on that show, I would’ve been jealous,” he said, of the concert that included musical heavy hitters like The Who, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton and Billy Joel (among others). “Those are my people. This is where I was born, this is where my days will end.”

“Stand Up Guys” – featuring Al Pacino, Alan Arkin and Christopher Walken – is slated to hit theaters on February 1.
