Jon Gosselin On His ‘Plus 8’ Future: ‘One Of Us Will Always Be With Them, Regardless Of What Happens’

Though his marriage may be on the rocks, in a new interview with People, Jon Gosselin said that it’s his children who are his main priority.

“My job is to take care of my kids,” the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” star told People. “That’s Kate’s job, too. One of us will always be with them, regardless of what happens to me and Kate.”

Responding to concerns that the couple’s TLC reality show is breaking child labor laws – the Pennsylvania department of labor recently announced an investigation into the show’s practices – Jon defended the cameras.

“Exploited? I don’t even want to use that word, because I think it’s ridiculous,” he said. “We’re a family that happens to be on TV, not a TV family. We have healthy, happy, well-adjusted, educated kids.”

But when it came to questions about his relationship with Kate, under fire since both stars were hit with allegations of affairs, he was less revealing.

“It’s a private matter, and we’re discussing it privately,” he said, though he admitted that audiences would see them on the show both together – and apart.

“Sometimes you’ll see Kate and I interview separately, sometimes… together,” he said. “It really depends on how things are going. This is a reality show, so you’re going to see real emotion.”

The drama has made the couple tabloid magnets for weeks – and with strong ratings for “Jon & Kate,” the attention shows no signs of waning, something Jon said he’s trying to handle.

“I don’t know what the future is,” Jon said. “How am I going to do it? I’m taking this day by day, hour by hour. I’m going to do what I’ve always done. I’m going to roll with the punches.”
