Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum Confirmed For ‘21 Jump Street’ Reboot

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are jumping feet first into “21 Jump Street.”

The young acting duo will headline Columbia Pictures’ big screen reboot of the popular ‘80s TV series by the same name, which follows young cops with youthful appearances who work undercover in high schools and colleges, the studio announced on Wednesday.

Jonah had already been announced as the film’s star, as well as being the project’s executive producer and writer as well. Channing will also co-executive produce.

“Jonah helped create a smart and funny vehicle that is tailor-made for him and Channing. They are a perfect duo for this film and [directors] Phil [Lord] and Chris [Miller] have a terrific, accessible take on the material. We love how this movie has come together and are very excited to begin production this spring,” Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, said in a statement released on Wednesday.

When Access Hollywood caught up with Jonah at the junket for his latest film, the animated “Megamind,” he said he was hopeful one of the series’ original stars would make a cameo in the reboot.

“We wrote a cameo for [Johnny Depp,] so we hope he does it,” Jonah explained.

The original TV series, which ran from 1987 – 1991, starred Depp, Richard Grieco, Holly Robinson (Peete), Peter DeLuise, Dustin Nguyen and Frederic Forest.
