Joseph Gordon-Levitt As Batman In Justice League?

Christopher Nolan might be done with The Caped Crusader, but is “The Dark Knight Rises” star Joseph Gordon-Levitt about to take on the iconic role?

According to HitFix sources, the actor will appear in the upcoming “Justice League” movie (which unites Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman) as Batman.

(Spoiler Alert!) In Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake – a.k.a. Robin – is last seen in the Batcave, creating what would seem to be an easy transition for him to take over the iconic Gotham City crime fighter role.

HitFix goes on to speculate that an appearance by the actor as Batman in the upcoming “Man Of Steel” (which Nolan is a producer on) would send fanboys into a frenzy. No such role has been confirmed yet.

The 31-year-old actor previously told HitFix that he is open to joining the “Justice League” project, slated to hit theaters in summer 2015.

“You never know,” he said. “If the script inspires me and if there’s a filmmaker that I respect and connect to… I’d consider anything.”

UPDATE: A rep for Gordon-Levitt shot down the Batman reports in a statement on Tuesday afternoon to Entertainment Weekly.
