Josh Groban Dishes On His New Album & Love Life: ‘I Am A Single Man’

Grobanites rejoice! The incredibly talented Josh Groban stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Friday to chat about his new album, “Illuminations,” and revealed a fact that is sure to thrill the ladies: he’s single!

“I am a single man at the moment, yes,” Josh told Access Hollywood Live’s Billy Bush and Kit Hoover, when asked about the current status of his love life.

“Not after this album!” Kit joked.

“This album’s gonna get me a girlfriend,” Josh laughed.

The 29-year-old smooth-voiced sensation — who has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide – wrote 11 of 13 songs on his new album, and said that the self-penned tracks were largely inspired by his personal experiences.

“How many girls are going to come out of the woodwork [thinking you wrote specific songs about them]?” Kit asked Josh.

“Five of the 13 songs are about John Mayer,” Josh joked.

“These songs are kind of personal,” Josh continued. “This was a three-year period where very specific moments in my life very much triggered these kinds of songs.”

Josh worked with mega-producer Rick Rubin on “Illuminations” (who’s most known for his work with The Beastie Boys and Run DMC, as well as co-founding Def Jam Records with Russell Simmons), prompting Josh to adopt a more hip-hop moniker — “MC J.Gro.”

”’MC J. Gro’ was definitely in the house,” Josh joked, of his time with the legendary producer.

“I was used to producers who were kind of like demo producers, who gave you something that you could jam in your car on the way home and felt immediately gratifying,” Josh continued. “Rick likes to work very slowly and so for him to work in Capitol Records with 60 musicians was totally new for him.

“For me to sit in a room with a piano in one take with some of Johnny Cash’s musicians — that was totally new for me. So, we both got to learn something,” Josh added. “We both got to tap into a genre that was different for us and I think that excitement is on the record.”

Kit caught Billy off guard when she outed her co-host for belting Josh’s tunes in his car.

“I am not afraid to roll up the windows and belt out Groban along with Groban,” Billy exclaimed. “I always think like, ‘Maybe [Josh] needs me!’”

“Roll down the windows when you do that,” Josh laughed. “You wanna make sure the people can hear!”

Catch Josh’s highly anticipated album, “Illuminations,” when it drops on Monday.
