J.R. Martinez On His ‘Dancing’ Win: ‘Thank You America For Being A Part Of The Journey’

Newly crowned “Dancing with the Stars” champ J.R. Martinez thanked the whole country following this impressive mirrorball victory on Season 13 of the hit ABC reality competition.

Access Hollywood guest correspondent Tim Vincent caught up with the army veteran and former “All My Children” actor after being crowed the ballroom king, where he edged out fellow contestants Rob Kardashian and Ricki Lake.

“It’s amazing. It’s an amazing feeling,” an ecstatic J.R. said.

“We just want to thank everyone at home who voted for us every single week, and believing in us when I had a bad week and whatever it may be. Thank you for pushing us through and giving us an opportunity to win this trophy,” he continued.

The former United States Army infantryman, who was deployed in Iraq, took the opportunity to thank the nation.

“Just as much as we’re enjoying this and holding this, thank you America for being a part of the journey as well,” he told Tim.

The 28-year-old also gushed about his partner and first-time mirrorball champ, professional dancer Karina Smirnoff.

“It’s amazing that I was able to be a part of that journey where she gets her first mirrorball trophy. She deserves it. Outside of a great dancer, she’s a great person. She’s beautiful on the outside of course, but she’s beautiful on the inside,” he told Tim. “The fact that I was able to be a part of that journey and witness that in person was amazing. We’re enjoying this!”
