Judge Won’t Let Britney’s Lawyers Off The Case… Yet

Britney Spears’ attorneys may want off her custody case, but they’ll have to wait until next week before they’ll find out if a judge is willing to grant them the exit.

Sorrell Trope and Anne Kiley were present in court on Wednesday, asking a judge to extricate themselves from representing Britney in her ongoing custody battle with Kevin Federline.

Speculation is that the attorneys want to remove themselves from the case before Brit’s dad, Jamie, has them removed himself.

However, after meeting with LA Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon in the judge’s chambers this morning that lasted about 30 minutes, the matter was continued until February 19.

Kevin’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, was also present at the hearing.

If Gordon is going to let the attorneys from Trope & Trope off the case, he reportedly wants to make sure someone is lined up to replace them.

Earlier in the case, Trope had requested to be removed from the case due to what he called a “breakdown in communication” with Britney. However, they changed their minds are remained on board.

The next chapter in the Britney battle will take place on Thursday in court, when a judge will decide whether or not to extend Jamie Spears’ co-conservatorship over Britney, or possibly give the pop star control back of her own estate.

On February 1, Commissioner Reva Goetz granted Jamie co-conservatorship over his daughter until February 14.
