Julia Roberts’ ‘Heartbreak’ Over Half-Sister’s Death

Julia Roberts has opened up about the death of her half-sister, Nancy Motes.

“It’s just heartbreak,” she told The Wall Street Journal magazine, tearing up when asked about Motes.

“It’s only been 20 days,” she continued during the interview, which took place last month – just a few weeks following Motes’ death. “There aren’t words to explain what any of us have been through in these last 20 days. It’s hour by hour some days, but you just keep looking ahead.”

Motes was found dead in a Los Angeles home in February, of what the family said in a statement to People was an apparent drug overdose.

“You don’t want anything bad to happen to anyone, but there are so many tragic, painful, inexplicable things in the world,” she added. “But [as with] any situation of challenge and despair, we must find a way, as a family.”

The actress credited meditation for helping her through tough times.

“Meditation or chanting or any of those things can be so joyous and also very quieting,” she explained.
