Julia Roberts: Kids & Cartoons

(July 18, 2006) — Julia Roberts plays a spider in the upcoming movie version of the children?s classic ?Charlotte?s Web.?

But don?t blame her if she?s feeling a little buggy lately.

Her role in ?Charlotte?s? comes after she plays a different animated insect in ?The Ant Bully,? which hits theaters July 28.

Insects aside, Access Hollywood?s Tony Potts learned the new roles are all because of her beautiful babies.

Cleary, Julia is enjoying being a new mom, as she was just glowing when she arrived for our interview. And she clearly also likes her new film ?The Ant Bully,? where she plays Hova ? the good-hearted ant girlfriend to ant wizard Nicolas Cage.

?How much fun was this movie?? Tony asked Julia.

?It was fun. But also a bummer because you?d think that I would?ve worked with Nic Cage, but I haven?t really,? she explained.

?You were all by yourself in a room,? Tony noted.

?Yep,? Julia said.

Doing ?Ant Bully? back to back with ?Charlotte?s Web? was perfect for the new mom, whose twins Phinnaeus and Hazel were just three months old at the time.

?Is it nice to do an animated movie because it gives you more time with the kids?? Tony asked.

?My babies were little when I started both of them and I would spend just two hours at the recording session and then go home and then come back,? Julia explained. ?I was never out of my house for more than three hours.?

All the more time for Julia to spend with her kids ? and in the kitchen. As it turns out, Julia is a fabulous cook.

?Do your kids like your cooking?? Tony asked her.

?They do. They?re good eaters,? she smiled.

?Do they have different personalities as far as what they like and don?t like? Do you have to do two dinners?? he asked.

?No, it?s not a diner, it?s a kitchen,? she laughed.
