Julia Roberts On Managing Family & Work On ‘Eat Pray Love’ Set

Julia Roberts remained a full-time actress, wife and mother-of-three while filming “Eat Pray Love,” her latest big screen venture, but the superstar told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush that she didn’t manage it alone.

“You took your family with you all around the world for this. That’s a huge thing to bite off; you’re starring in the movie; you’re in every scene of the movie. How did you pull it off?” Billy asked.

“We pulled it off as a village,” Julia said.

“Who’s in the village — Danny?” Billy asked, referring to Julia’s husband of 8-years, movie cameraman Danny Moder.

“Danny, the kiddies and not only friends and family that came in and out of our lives in these weeks of traveling, but I have two really amazing women that help me take care of my kids,” Julia said. “It’s impossible to accomplish [it all unless] you have a team of people all working toward the same goal.”

Julia told Billy that her little ones – 5-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and the couple’s youngest, 3-year-old Henry – had a blast on their around-the-world excursion.

“They did have fun,” Julia said.

The actress added that they dubbed their international trek, which lasted two months, “The World Pool Tour” because they stopped whenever they’d find bodies of water, to let the kids take a dip to escape the heat.

Beyond the pool stops, Julia admitted that managing family and work is something she took great pride in.

“It was a great experience,” she said. “Certainly there were days where I thought ‘Phew! We made it through that day,’ but on the whole it was a tremendous experience as a family… and a great experience as an actor to rediscover [that] I can work this hard and be a full time mom and still find absolute joy in both those places.”

Julia also found joy in the cuisine across the world, confirming she added a few pounds to her frame from indulging in the good stuff.

“How much weight did you gain?” Billy asked.

“Under 10 lbs.,” she laughed. “It was under 10 lbs. We were only there 5-weeks, that’s a lot for five weeks.”

“Was it, ‘We’re in Italy! We gotta go out?’” Billy asked.

“It was a little, ‘We’re in Italy,’” Julia smiled. “But on camera you have to eat a bowl of pasta all day. It’s not just one bowl of pasta.

“At first, when my pants were getting a little tighter… I’m going ‘Oh heavens!’ which is what one does,” she added.
