Julianne Moore’s Acting Dissed By Turkish Officials?!

Breaking news: The Academy, HFPA, BAFTA and SAG were apparently all wrong regarding Julianne Moore’s acting skills, according to Turkish officials.

The Hurriyet Daily News reported on Monday that the Culture and Tourism Ministry of Turkey has ditched a plan to make the actress the face of Turkish tourism due to her “poor acting” (yes, you read that right).

According to the report, the actress – who won an Oscar last month for her “Still Alice” performance – shot a promotional film in Los Angeles in 2014 in which she “was seen revisiting her childhood journeys to Turkey while traveling on an airplane.”

The Culture and Tourism Ministry of Turkey was reportedly displeased with Julianne’s performance in the clip and asked for a reshoot, which she declined.

According to the Hurriyet Daily News, selecting the American actress to represent Turkish tourism had been “criticized by a number of prominent figures in Turkey,” with many voicing their disapproval of her “depressive persona.”

Your loss, Turkey.
