Justin Bieber Not Retiring, Says Manager Scooter Braun

Justin Bieber made headlines yesterday after a clip of an interview showing the young singer announcing his retirement hit the Internet. But is he really hanging up his signature saggy pants and dancing shoes?

Biebs’ manager, Scooter Braun, came to Access Hollywood Live to set the record straight on Wednesday.

“This is the fun thing about these Vines [videos] people post: they’re only a certain amount of time, so they cut off before the rest of the statement when he says ‘just kidding,’” Scooter told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover, when asked if Justin actually planned to retire.

While the “As Long A You Love Me” singer was joking about retirement, he does plan to take a much-needed break soon.

“He hasn’t taken time off since he was 12… he knows he wants it, and wants to spend time with this family. His younger brother and sister are starting to grow up and he doesn’t want to miss their childhood,” Scooter said. “I think for his wellbeing at 19, 20 years old, [it’s good for him] to take time for himself, to figure out who he wants to be.”

Justin has been making news for more than his music lately and in a few instances, for less-than-positive reasons – something Scooter said will be addressed in their upcoming film, “Believe.”

“I think he’s going through normal teenage stuff and he’s trying to fight this idea of wanting to be normal, but then the responsibility that comes with being who he is. We address all that in the film,” Scooter said, adding that Justin is brutally honest in the new movie, which hits theaters on Christmas Day, and “breaks down” in tears at one point while discussing recent challenges.

“I think the last movie, ‘Never Say Never,’ did extremely well and it represented hope. It represented a kid that came from nothing and lived the dream,” he said. “This movie is what happens when you get knocked down… this movie shows Justin facing adversity and how he’s really responding to it because no one’s really heard him speak with his own voice in a while now –he hasn’t done interviews.”
