Justin Bieber Speaks Out On Photographer’s Death, Urges Legislation Against Paparazzi Tactics

Justin Bieber is speaking out about the death of the photographer who was killed after taking photos of the singer’s car.

“While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim,” Justin said in a statement to Access Hollywood on Wednesday morning.

The singer hopes the photographer’s death – he was struck by a car crossing a busy street in Los Angeles after he stopped to take photos of Bieber’s Ferrari – will urge lawmakers to pass more laws protecting people from these types of accidents.

“Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves,” the statement read.

Fellow young star – and frequent paparazzi target — Miley Cyrus also weighed in on the incident, Tweeting, “Hope this paparazzi/JB accident brings on some changes in ‘13 Paparazzi are dangerous! Wasn’t Princess Di enough of a wake up call?!”

Adding, “It is unfair for anyone to put this on to Justin’s conscious as well! This was bound to happen! Your mom teaches u when your a child not to play in the street! The chaos that comes with the paparazzi acting like fools makes it impossible for anyone to make safe choices.”
