Justin Bieber’s Scuffle Involved Undercover Police Officer Attempting To Help Singer

Bieber fever reached a boiling point on Thursday when an undercover police officer reportedly attempted to help the singer after the crowd became unruly.

New York’s FOX 5 first reported that a man jumped over a security barricade at a promotional event at Macy’s and knocked the singer to the ground, but according to TMZ, the man in question was a plainclothes police officer.

TMZ reported that the singer was unaware that the man was an officer and Bieber’s security team stepped in. The officer reportedly cited a member of his security with disorderly conduct, but the TMZ source said both sides sorted out the mistaken identity incident and the singer returned to the event.

Justin appeared shaken by incident, but returned – holding his arm – to greet the rest of his fans.

On Thursday, a rep for the singer told Access Hollywood, “‘This was a momentary, well-intentioned misunderstanding which was quickly resolved, and the event went well.”

Justin is in the midst of a whirlwind tour of the Big Apple. Last night, he appeared on “Late Show with David Letterman” where he delivered the Top 10 segment. Today, he appeared on “The View,” and is expected tonight at the premiere of “Monte Carlo” with girlfriend Selena Gomez.
