Kate Gosselin Reveals Dating Issues, How She & Jon Gosselin Are Getting Along

Kate Gosselin may have settled into her life as a single mom, but the “Kate Plus 8” star said she hasn’t quite figured out how to date again.

“It’s just strange,” Kate told Access Hollywood in New York on Monday morning. “After this many years, to just be back out there in the world? If somebody arises, that’d be great. If not, it is what it is.”

The reality TV matriarch, whose show returns to TLC for a new season on Monday night, said that part of the problem with dating is her lack of time, while the other is – with eight children at home to plan for — having a clear enough head to tune into the other person.

“It’s hard to find the time, it’s hard to go on a date, and hear somebody, blah, blah, blah-ing and you’re thinking, ‘I don’t care, I don’t care! What am I making for dinner tomorrow night?’’” Kate said.

While she has a sparse dating schedule, Kate is still in contact with her ex-husband, of course – Jon Gosselin — and she told Access the two are communicating better following their bitter 2009 divorce.

“He’s working now so he has something to focus on that’s more constructive,” Kate said. “He sees the kids.

“I have remained the same throughout,” Kate continued of her behavior toward Jon. “I want it to be peaceful, but I can only control my side of it, so I just deal with whatever he hands me and try to be positive. Generally speaking, [it] depends on the day.

“I guess it’s a lot about my attitude and this is what I have to deal with for the rest of my life, so might as well make the best of it,” she added.

As for the former couple’s children, Kate told Access the Gosselin youngsters – Maddie and Kara (the twins, born in 2000), and sextuplets Joel, Aaden, Colin, Alexis, Hannah and Leah (born in 2004), are enjoying their escapades that involve the cameras.

“The kids love it and every weekend that they’re home we have something planned. Every vacation, they look forward to it, and we still love it,” she said. “I certainly would not be needing to coerce them into this. If they didn’t love it, we wouldn’t do it any more, but they’re loving it, we’re having the most amazing experiences.”

One of those experiences – featured on Monday night’s episode – sees the Gosselin matriarch and her brood heading Down Under.

“A complete dream come true,” Kate said. “To fly that far away and live that dream was just amazing. We still talk about it every day.”

“Kate Plus 8” airs on TLC at 10/9 C.
