Kate Gosselin’s Marriage Advice For Young Women: Wait Until ’30 And Beyond’

Kate Gosselin has a message for young women preparing to walk down the aisle – what’s the rush?

“I think whenever I meet a young girl now, my challenge to them is, be really sure,” the reality mom, who divorced ex-husband Jon last year after months of tabloid attention, told Meredith Vieira on NBC’s “Today” show on Friday. “I got married very young. I just want to be that person in their ear saying, ‘Be really, really, really sure.’ And what’s the rush to get married young?”

She added that she’s already giving that advice to her daughters, Cara and Maddie, 9, and Alexis, Hannah and Leah, 6.

“That’ll be my advice to my daughters, I’m already telling them — 30 and beyond,” Kate said.

While her own love life has been tumultuous, Kate said she hasn’t sworn off marriage.

“The kids even talk about it, they bring it up, they wonder, ‘Am I going to get married again?’ and all those things. I’m open,” she said. “I don’t feel like it’s time. My kids need so much of me that I need to be there with them and personally I don’t feel ready to move forward.”

Though Jon has moved on, dating several women since the split, Kate added that their relations – at the moment – are “amicable” after a custody squabble earlier this year.

“Jon has dropped the custody battle. At this moment, things are peaceful, he is amicable at this moment,” she said. “I never know when that’s going to change. I worry every day where we’re going to be. [But] the kids are spending time with him at his apartment and I feel like things are moving along the way they should in more of a normal, if you can call it that, divorce situation.”

Kate and her kids will return to TV this Sunday, for the premiere of “Kate Plus 8” at 9 PM on TLC.
