Kate Gosselin’s Newest Book Selling Poorly

It’s another bout of bad news for recently departed “Dancing with the Stars” competitor Kate Gosselin. Her new book is bombing.

The reality star’s third book, “I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family,” has shifted just 10,084 copies since it was first released on April 13, Us Weekly reported.

Jim Milliot, business and news director of Publisher’s Weekly, told the mag that Kate will have “a very tough time getting to 50,000, let alone 100,000… I think it will be a disappointment in the end.”

There is some good news, however. Reports that her book isn’t selling well appear to have improved Kate’s rank on Amazon, which jumped up several hundred places overnight. On Thursday afternoon, Us Weekly reported Kate’s Amazon.com rank was No. 862, but on Friday morning, Kate had jumped up to No. 486, a number that continues to climb.

Regardless of the shift in Amazon ranks, it appears Kate’s loyal readers who bought her first two books in droves – “Multiple Blessings” and “Eight Little Faces,” which sold more than 500,000 copies each according to Parade — aren’t all swayed by her newest hardback venture.

“I Just Want You to Know” has just a 2.5 star rating on Amazon and a host of negative reader reviews.

“This book turned out to be a giant platform for you, Kate, to remind the world how much work you had to do raising these children, as if you expect the reader to feel pity for you and understand you better,” one customer reviewer going under the name of Phoenix wrote. “Or, worse, that you want your children to feel horrible that they made your life so miserable and hectic, but what a trooper you were to keep taking the beating.”

“Throughout the pages, Gosselin’s focus is on herself, not the children. Rather than preserving memories for her adorable brood, the book is about all she has done and all she has sacrificed for them,” customer reviewer M. Hill wrote.

Not all of the comments, though, slam the reality star.

“Loved it,” Mom-in-Awe wrote. “Read it cover to cover and am buying another copy for my sister. I thought it was lovely and it’s obvious she really does just try to do the best she can. I’d give anything for the energy of this woman!”

While Kate’s newest book may not be a commercial success, she still has plenty of other jobs to keep up her income stream up, including two upcoming shows on TLC – “Kate Plus 8” and “Twist of Kate.”
