Kate Middleton Wows At ‘War Horse’ Premiere; Planning ‘Low-Key’ Birthday

Kate Middleton and Prince William stepped out for the London opening of Steven Spielberg’s “War Horse” on Sunday night — and caused quite a splash.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a black lace gown by Alice Temperley, which Prince William shielded from a light drizzle with an umbrella on the red carpet.

According to Spielberg, via U.K.‘s The Mirror, Kate was moved to tears by the World War I epic, starring Jeremy Irvine.

“I was sitting next to her and all I know is at one point my wife, who was sitting to my right, right in front of my face she passed a Kleenex,” the famed director told BBC Breakfast. “I saw the Kleenex go across my face, arrive and stop but I didn’t want to intrude on her experience watching ‘War Horse,’ so I never glanced over.”

Following Sunday’s premiere, Kate has another event to celebrate, her 30th birthday on Monday. But, the Duchess is not planning a lavish affair.

Palace officials have released a statement saying she would mark her birthday with a “low-key and private” affair.
