Kate Middleton’s Cute Quip To Helen Mirren At Buckingham Palace Reception

Kate Middleton (the Duchess of Cambridge) welcomed Helen Mirren to Buckingham Palace on Monday night as part of a Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Reception, hosted by Prince William’s wife and The Queen.

Helen, who has played a host of royals over her career, including Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II (Britain’s current monarch), was among a host of stars who greeted Kate and the Queen.

“My husband called you granny last night,” Kate quipped to Helen, according to multiple reports, including one in Britain’s Daily Mail.

Kate was referring to William’s speech when he presented Helen with a BAFTA Fellowship on Sunday night, and joked about how he should call her “granny.”

Other stars who came out for the event included Helena Bonham Carter, director Steve McQueen, former “Bond” Roger Moore, “Dynasty” alum Joan Collins, Angela Lansbury, Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Joely Richardson.
