Katherine Heigl Named ShoWest Female Star Of The Year

ShoWest has named Katherine Heigl ShoWest Female Star of the Year.

The event will be held March 15-18, 2010, in Las Vegas. Heigl will be presented with the ShoWest Female Star of the Year Award at ShoWest’s Final Night Banquet and Award Ceremony on Thursday, March 18, at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas.

“Her ever-present charm and innate talent have made Heigl’s transition from TV screen to silver screen seemingly effortless,” said Robert Sunshine, co-managing director of the event. “Her comedic timing and flair for acting are showcased in each of her roles and have captivated audiences around the globe. We are pleased to honor Katherine Heigl as the ShoWest 2010 Female Star of the Year.”

This summer, Heigl stars in Lionsgate release Killers, opening June 4, 2010. Heigl stars as Jen Kornfeldt, a beautiful, fun-loving computer tech recovering from a bad break-up when she finds true love with Spencer Aimes (Ashton Kutcher), your average, undercover, government-hired super assassin.

Heigl already has an impressive and list of accomplishments, including her five-year stint on ABC’s prime-time drama, Grey’s Anatomy. She broke onto the big screen with the 2007 summer blockbuster Knocked Up, from director Judd Apatow. This was followed up by her box office favorite 27 Dresses, which proved to audiences across the country that Heigl has star power. Last year she starred in The Ugly Truth and will be seen later this year in the Warner Bros. Pictures release Life As We Know It. She has been recognized with several awards including an Emmy, People’s Choice, and SAG award.

ShoWest is the largest annual convention for the motion picture industry. It is the only international gathering devoted exclusively to the movie business and the single largest international gathering of motion picture professionals and theatre owners in the world. The 2010 edition of ShoWest will be held March 15 – 18, 2010 at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas and is expected to draw more than 5,000 members of the motion picture industry.
