Katie Holmes: ‘Mad’ About Tom

In early 2005, Katie Holmes was just beginning to bask in the glow of her newfound whirlwind romance with Tom Cruise.

Fast forward nearly three years later, and Tom is still Katie’s number one.

And as Katie told Access Hollywood during her recent interview, the couple shares a great marriage – and one very smart toddler.

“When you are a parent, it’s the best because every day there are moments that are just amazing,” Katie beamed when she sat down with Access to promote her new film, “Mad Money.”

The proud superstar mommy couldn’t help but beam with maternal pride as she spoke of her 20-month-old daughter, Suri.

“She’s cool,” Katie smiled. “She is so glorious and she really is very creative and so smart.”

So smart, in fact, that even though she’s still a few months shy of birthday number two, Suri already has the paparazzi down pat.

“Yeah, she gets it. She’s very smart. She’s very aware and she knows what’s going on,” Katie continued.

Of course, the constant attention comes with the territory when you’re married to one of the world’s biggest movie stars. But Katie says Tom is worth every moment of it.

“I really feel so lucky and I love being married and I love being his wife. He makes me feel really good every day. That’s important and I appreciate it I try every day to that for him,” Katie said of Tom. “To us, we have a very normal life and when we go home, we have our family and I know my husband and I know my children and we focus on that and really, that is what we like to do. We like to make movies and we like to be with each other. It’s as simple as that.”

Speaking of making movies, Katie makes her return to the big screen on Friday in the bank heist comedy “Mad Money” – her first film since becoming a wife and mom.

“The joy of making it ever surpassed what I thought and I had high expectations,” Katie said of her latest project.

And while she was admittedly a bit nervous about returning to work after a two-year hiatus, Katie said co-stars Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah made it an easy transition.

“We would talk about music and designing and fashion, of course, and kids and acting,” she boasted of her “Mad Money” colleagues. “It was really so rewarding and it was also equally great to have Suri and Tom on the set. I’ve always loved acting and I always wanted to have a family and combining the two is just better than I anticipated.”

“Mad Money” his theaters Jan. 18.
