Katie Holmes Signs On For ‘Extra’ Work

Forget leading lady, Katie Holmes is ready to be an “Extra.”

Katie will star alongside Kevin Kline and John C. Reilly in the comedy, “The Extra Man,” according to Variety.

Based on the novel by Jonathan Ames, the film follows a failed playwright (Kline) who works as an escort for rich widows in New York City and eventually develops a mentor-student relationship with a troubled up-and-coming playwright, played by Paul Dano.

No details were available on Katie’s role.
“This is a film for our times, these hilarious characters living on the edge of enormous wealth, scrapping for small pieces of the pie,” producer Anthony Bregman said. “I suspect a lot of people will be able to identify nowadays.”
Production on “The Extra Man” is slated to being in February in New York.

This will mark Katie’s first film since 2008’s “Mad Money.” She recently wrapped her run in the Broadway show “All My Sons.”
