Katy Perry & Adam Lambert Share Thoughts On Judging American Idol

Katy Perry isn’t yet ready to become a reality competition singing judge.

“People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet,” Katy told The Hollywood Reporter. “I have ideas for two or three big, creative things, and I want to be able to fulfill those ideas.”

Currently, Katy’s documentary, “Part of Me 3D,” is in theaters and she has plans to launch her own label in the near future.

As for her opinion on reality singing competitions, Katy told THR she thinks some shows choose judges whose relevancy has lapsed.

“I find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven’t been for a decade or longer,” she said. “Or if they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven’t even lived that perspective?”

As for Adam Lambert, whose name has also been rumored to be in the mix in recent days, he told Britain’s Capital FM he had not been approached, but would be open to the opportunity.

“If something like that were to happen, I would be very excited,” he said during a web chat with the station. “It’s a rumor as of right now, but man, that would be fun.”

Pressed on whether he’d been approached, Adam said he hadn’t, adding, “All I can say is, if it were to happen, I would appreciate it.”
