Katy Perry & Kara DioGuardi: ‘American Idol’ Feud Was Nothing But Clever ‘Editing’

Katy Perry and Kara DioGuardi have put their “American Idol” feud to rest.

In fact, both stars played down their on-air sparring during the Los Angeles auditions, which aired last week.

“I saw Kara last night. We’re actually good friends,” Katy told Access Hollywood on Sunday night on the Grammys red carpet.

Additionally, the “Hot N Cold” diva said that the perceived tiff, which made headlines following the show, was nothing more than clever editing.

One of the standout moments from Katy and Kara’s exchanges came when the resident “Idol” judge began singing Katy’s “I Kissed A Girl,” prompting a catty response from Katy.

“Please stop before I throw my Coke in your face,” a seemingly un-amused Katy told Kara.

But as far as Kara is concerned, it would’ve been much more interesting had the guest “Idol” judge followed through.

“I wanted her to throw the Coke on me. I thought that would be a great moment,” Kara told Ryan Seacrest on E!’s Grammy red carpet pre-show. “Wouldn’t that have been hot?”

But alas, Kara also shot down any suggestions of a feud, confirming the two had seen each other on Saturday night.

“We saw each other last night. We were hugging,” she added. “[Katy] was like, ‘I don’t know why everyone got so crazy about that! It was the editing.’ And I was like, ‘Girl, don’t worry about it. Let’s write some songs!’”
