The Super Bowl Halftime Show is a coveted gig ââ¬â but are music artists willing to pay to play?
According to the Wall Street Journal, three major acts ââ¬â Katy Perry, Rihanna and Coldplay ââ¬â are being considered for the 2015 show, but with one little catch.
Performers are reportedly being asked to contribute an unspecified amount of money in order to play for the millions of people watching ââ¬â last year 115.3 million viewers tuned in for Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

According to the WSJ, the proposition of pay to play was met with a “chilly reception from the candidates’ representatives.”
NFL spokeswoman Joanna Hunter told the WSJ that contract details are confidential and they are aiming “to put on the best possible show.”
But are Katy, Rihanna and Chris (of Coldplay) the three acts being considered?

“When we have something to announce, we’ll announce it,” she told the WSJ.
Super Bowl XLIX will take place near Phoenix on February 1.
