Katy Perry Talks John Mayer Who You Love Cover Shoot: ‘So Fun’

A day at the office for Katy Perry involves photo shoots with boyfriend John Mayer.

Access Hollywood caught up with the singer on Tuesday night at the 9th annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York City, where Michelle Beadle got Katy to dish on her photo shoot for the cover art with John for their duet, “Who You Love.”

“It was so fun. It was just hanging out with my boyfriend, but who happens to be an incredible artist and incredible songwriter,” Katy told Access.

The singer also spoke about the meaning behind the song with John.

“’Who You Love’ is a beautiful song that I was so honored to be a part of and it’s just a song about loving who you love and not resisting that love, especially if it’s like hitting you, over and over again,” she explained. “If you’re going to sleep and it’s finding you in your dreams, you gotta listen to that intuition. You gotta listen to your heart, you can’t fight it.”

Katy, who was named UNICEF’s newest Goodwill Ambassador this week, spoke to Access about her new role.

“I have a responsibility now. I have a responsibility to take care of the innocent children out there in the world and to take the light, all that humongous light that I have and shine some of that attention to where it’s needed,” she said of her work with organization.

The 29-year-old explained that a recent trip to Madagascar with UNICEF changed her life.

“[It] popped the bubble that I live in… and prioritized my way of thinking and installed a lot of gratitude inside of me,” she said. “It showed me the incredible work in real time that UNICEF does.”
