Katy Perry To Visit ‘The Simpsons’; Laughs Off ‘Sesame Street’ Controversy On ‘SNL’

Katy Perry might have been too “Hot” for “Sesame Street” – but she’ll fit right in with the folks of Springfield.

The “California Gurl” will guest star in a Christmas-themed episode of “The Simpsons” on FOX set to air in December, the network confirmed to Access Hollywood.

However, Katy won’t be animated.

Instead, she will appear as herself in a live-action segment which features the fine yellow folks of Springfield as puppets! Not only will she be leading the gang in a performance of “The 39 Days of Christmas,” but she’ll also be a love interest for the show’s surly barkeep – Moe!

“In the wake of Elmo’s terrible betrayal, the Simpsons puppets wish to announce they stand felt-shoulder-to-shoulder with Katy Perry,” “Simpsons” executive producer Al Jean said jokingly in a statement to Access on Monday.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com last week, PBS pulled Katy’s “Sesame Street” duet with Elmo after it was dubbed too racy for their young demographic.

On this weekend’s season premiere of “Saturday Night Live,” for which Katy was the musical guest while Amy Poehler hosted, the “Hot ‘N Cold” singer poked fun at her “Sesame Street” brouhaha, with a low-cut revealing Elmo shirt during the “Bronx Beat” skit with Poehler and other former cast member Maya Rudolph.
