Keanu Reeves On ‘Speed 3’: ‘Never Say Never’

Keanu Reeves is no stranger to sequels, appearing in the “Matrix” trilogy and making two “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” movies, but would the actor be interested in returning to the “Speed” franchise?

It might surprise fans that Keanu would ever even consider stepping into the role for Officer Jack Traven again after skipping the franchise’s nautical-themed sequel, “Speed 2: Cruise Control,” but Keanu told Access Hollywood’s Maria Menounos it’s not an impossibility.

When Maria asked Keanu about the possibility of another speedometer-themed flick during the junket for his upcoming Sci-Fi movie, “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” the actor was resistant… at first.

“Probably not,” Keanu first said, but then added, “Never say never, right?”

The actor noted that all of the projects he selects are based on the quality of the movie’s script.

Asked if he had an issue with the script for a third “Speed,” Keanu remained mum, but he did say he thinks he would enjoy working with co-star Sandra Bullock again.

“Sandra and I could probably do something pretty groovy with that,” he said.

Keanu even offered up a few of his own story ideas.

“Maybe [if] we were traveling through Europe… maybe on the Serengeti, and there was some kind of mishap,” the actor added. “It could be like a world tour. [Or] maybe we could go to Polynesia and then take us all across the world. Maybe if we shot for like four months and we have like a week off in every country, telling this kind of adventurous story for this couple.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Keanu will next find adventure next in 18th century Japan in the upcoming “47 Ronin,” an epic period film based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen.
