Keanu Reeves Out For Revenge In ‘47 Ronin’

Keanu Reeves will wield a mighty sword in his next movie.

Reeves will star in “47 Ronin,” an epic period film based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen in 18th century Japan, per Variety.

Reeves will play one of the samurai, who set out to avenge the death of their master.

According to Variety, the stylized film will mix fantasy visual elements, a la “Lord of the Rings,” with the type of fierce, gritty battle scenes seen in “Gladiator.”

“47 Ronin” will be written by Chris Morgan, who co-wrote “Wanted” and is working on the upcoming “Fast and Furious” project.

Reeves will next be seen on the big screen in the Sci-Fi remake “The Day The Earth Stood Still,” which opens December 12.

He has also wrapped production on the romantic comedy “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,” which co-stars Julianne Moore, Robin Wright Penn, Blake Lively and Winona Ryder.
