Keith Urban Explains Daughter Sunday’s Name

As a father, Keith Urban’s daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman, brings immense joy into his life.

But as the country star revealed during a visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Sunday wasn’t always such a happy thought.

“How did you come up with Sunday? Where did the name come from?” Ellen asked Keith.

“We just love the name of the day. Particularly, when you don’t have someone in your life, Sunday in my experience was the loneliest day. The day I dreaded the most. Everyone goes with their families and if you don’t have a family, don’t have anybody,” Keith admitted.

But the arrival of his daughter with wife Nicole Kidman in July 2008 changed his perception of the day.

“It went from being sort of the most dreaded day of the week for us to being the most joyous day because we just had a family,” he added.

And as it turns out, although the now-8-and-a-half-month-old was born on a Monday, Keith and Nicole were already set on the weekend name.

“We had the name picked out before. We didn’t want her to be born on Sunday,” he revealed.

Although her parents both hail from Down Under, Keith said Sunday Rose just may combine her parents’ Australian accents with a Southern twang.

“I think she may say ‘G’day y’all’ – a nice mix,” he joked.
