Kelly Clarkson Gives Concert For Free Hollywood Crowd

Last night, Kelly Clarkson concluded the third annual Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series, with a free show in Hollywood, outdoors at the famed Babylon Court within the Hollywood & Highland complex, portions of which will be shown tonight on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Kelly kicked off the show with her first ever studio album song, “Miss Independent,” then launched into her current single, “Already Gone.” She concluded her Kimmel set with “My Life Would Suck Without You.”

But Kelly didn’t stop there! Following those shows she continued with a full concert – 15 songs total – for the more than 5,000 fans who showed up to see her. In addition to all of her hits, Kelly included her cover of Patsy Cline’s “After Midnight.”

Beginning in mid-July and lasting through mid-September, Samsung AT&T Summer Krush presented nine one-night-only music events that gave attendees a chance to hear some of their favorite bands performing intimate concerts in some of the hippest locations, with tickets only available via radio promotions, street teams, and online registration. Each event featured a one hour, high-energy performance along with activities including the interactive “Krush Challenge” texting installations that showcased the organizational capabilities of the Samsung JACKâ„¢, and opportunities to win a number of prizes including the featured phone, a slim-designed Windows Mobile device that keeps on-the-go people organized, both personally and professionally.

Samsung AT&T Summer Krush kicked off on July 17, 2009 with chart-topping band Daughtry performing in Seattle for a special FREE concert, open to the public, at The Paramount Theatre that aired that night on ABC’s late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The free concert tour continued in San Francisco on July 31 with one of rock’s most exciting and enduring bands, The Offspring, who performed to a sea of fans at the Warfield Theater, followed by record-breaking Country duo Montgomery Gentry who delivered their honky-tonk country tunes at Gilley’s in Dallas on August 5.

The Southern Soulster, T-Pain rocked The House Of Blues New Orleans on August 11 with his rhythmic take on hip hop and soul, while August 18 found Dierks Bentley entertaining a packed house at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, followed by Darius Rucker, who performed his chart-topping songs at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House on August 24, with portions of his concert airing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on August 27.

On September 2, throngs of fans swooned as Maxwell, the sexy ambassador of soul returned with his brand new look and fresh new sound at House of Blues Boston, while fans across the country also enjoyed his tunes two nights later when portions of his concert aired on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Then, just days before the release of his highly anticipated “Blueprint 3” album release, Jay-Z rocked the House of Blues Chicago on September 8 with yet another incredible performance.

Previous participants in the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush tour include Mariah Carey, Gavin Rossdale, Good Charlotte, LeAnn Rimes, Nelly, Smashing Pumpkins, Nas, Ludacris, Plain White T’s, The Bravery, Kinky, Big & Rich, and The All-American Rejects.

The third annual Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series also featured an opportunity for new, up-and-coming unsigned musicians to perform on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” as the opener for the highly-anticipated Los Angeles concert event. The winners of the ‘Opening Act’ contest, The Lives Of Famous Men, saw their dreams come true last night as they took the stage in front of a national television audience and millions of fans across the country.

The winning band also received transportation to and accommodations in Los Angeles, a $5,000 cash prize, and the illustrious title of “Samsung AT&T Summer Krush Opening Act.” To enter, bands submitted their live performance videos to the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush Web site where visitors could preview and vote for their favorite entries, and also keep track of the highest-ranking performers throughout the entry period.
