Kerry Washington: Scandal Finale Will ‘Blow Your Mind’

The season finale of ABC’s “Scandal” is just days away and series star Kerry Washington says Season 2’s final episode is deliciously scandalous.

“It’s good stuff,” an emphatic Kerry told Access Hollywood of next week’s “Scandal” finale, at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, “Peeples.” “It will blow your mind!”

As “Scandal’s” Olivia Pope, the 36-year-old beauty became the first African-American actress to headline a primetime network drama in nearly four decades.

“It’s really amazing,” she said of the honor, adding that working with “Peeples” co-star Diahann Carroll, one of the first mainstream Black actresses, was an honor. “What’s really amazing is that I get to be in this film with Diahann Carroll, who was one of the trailblazers who made a show like ‘Scandal’ even possible.”

Kerry has had an incredibly busy few months — starring in Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained,” leading “Scandal” as crisis manager Olivia, and now, promoting “Peeples,” a Tyler Perry comedy co-starring Craig Robinson and David Alan Grier.

After dealing with heavy topics and overwhelming drama on screen of late, the actress is thrilled to be performing a comedic role in her latest film.

“I’m really excited that after the intensity of the year with ‘Django’ and ‘Scandal’ that I get to be in a comedy,” she said. “It’s such a nice, different energy to be bringing to screens.”

Adding, “And I love doing comedy, so I’m really excited!”

The “Scandal” Season 2 airs Thursday, May 16, at 10/9c on ABC.

“Peeples” hits theaters on Friday.
