Kevin Bacon Launches Six Degrees Website

NEW YORK (January 18, 2007) — Six degrees of Kevin Bacon, becomes more than a fun game between friends with the announcement the actor is using the name for a charity benefiting website.Sixdegrees.org was kicked off today by the actor whose many, many credits include ?Footloose,? ?Apollo 13,? and ?Will & Grace.? In association with Network for Good, AOL and Entertainment Weekly, the website will allow fellow thespians and other types of entertainers to highlight their favorite charities. Visitors to the site can see organizations supported by Bacon?s wife Kyra Sedgwick, Tyra Banks (guest star from ?The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? with Will Smith who starred with Matt Damon ?The Legend of Bagger Vance,? who was in ?Good Will Hunting? with Minnie Driver who was in ?Sleepers? with Bacon) and Nicole Kidman (who was in ?Eyes Wide Shut? with Tom Cruise, who was in ?A Few Good Men? with Bacon).?SixDegrees.org is about using the idea that we are all connected to accomplish something good,? Bacon said in a statement. ?It is my hope that Six Degrees will soon be something more than a game or a gimmick. It will also be a force for good, by bringing a social conscience to social networking.? Bacon will celebrate the SixDegrees.org website with a visit to the Sundance Film Festival, in Park City, Utah. Other celebs promoting their charities on the website include Rosie O?Donnell, Ashley Judd, Dana Delany, Kanye West, Jessica Simpson and Robert Duvall.
