Kid Rock Won’t Be Charged Over Tommy Lee Incident

Kid Rock will not face criminal charges for a physical altercation with Tommy Lee at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards last month.

“We will not be charging Kid Rock,” Clark County District Attorney David Roger told Access Hollywood. “We have spoken to the victim, Tommy Lee, who asked that we not proceed with prosecution. There were no injuries so we will honor his request.”

Rock was cited for misdemeanor battery following an incident where witnesses claim they saw Rock punch Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The fracas erupted between the two former husbands of Pamela Anderson, while Alicia Keys was performing George Michael’s “Freedom 90” on stage at the VMAs.

A source who witnessed the event told Access Hollywood that Tommy Lee was sitting with magician Criss Angel. The two went over to see Sean “Diddy” Combs, who was seated in close proximity to Kid Rock. The rap-rocker was not in his seat at the time.

Carson Daly also witnessed the event.

“From our vantage point it looked like Tommy Lee went over to say hello to P. Diddy ‘cause Kid Rock was out of his seat,” the former MTV “TRL” presenter told Access. “Kid Rock came back to his seat and all hell broke loose.”

People immediately gathered around the fracas and security rushed over to the scuffle. In video, posted later in the evening on MTV.com, Rock managed to keep his cigar in his mouth during the heated conflict.

In related news, a week ago, Rock was arrested and booked on misdemeanor charge of simple battery after a brawl at a Waffle House in Atlanta, Georgia.

“He and five members of his entourage were involved in a fight with a male customer inside the Waffle House,” said Mekka Parish, a spokeswoman for the DeKalb County Police Department told the Associated Press.
