Kim Kardashian Defends Herself After Kitty Controversy

Kim Kardashian may be in Australia, but she took time on Monday evening to respond to the controversy related to a photo she posted via Twitter of herself holding a cat by its scruff.

“I was doing a photo shoot with an adorable black kitty cat and I Twitpic’d this picture… I have been getting negative comments regarding the way I was holding the kitty, but rest assured, the owner and vet were on set and showed me how to pick him up,” Kim wrote on her blog in defense of herself.

Kim added that the black feline was absolutely fine.

“The cat was not harmed in any way and is perfectly fine! I love animals and would never do anything to harm any animals,” she wrote.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals quickly slammed the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star on Monday after she posted the pic

“Kim Kardashian isn’t the only person who mistakenly thinks that because a mother cat picks up her kittens by the scruff of the neck that a supportive hand under the rump isn’t needed,” PETA said in a statement. “But I’ll bet plenty of fans have let her know — nicely, we hope!” they added. “But I’ll bet plenty of fans have let her know — nicely, we hope!”
