Kim Humphries said he was “devastated” to learn that Kim Kardashian filed for divorce on Monday – just 72 days after they walked down the aisle – so, did reality star’s family know the split was coming before the NBA star?
Kim’s mother, Kris Jenner, appeared on NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday, where she told Ann Curry she was aware the divorce filing was coming.
“I knew a few days before because Kim and I a very close,” the Kardashian matriarch said. “I had no idea there was a problem at the time.”
Jenner knew the split news was coming, but what about Kim’s soon-to-be-ex husband?
People magazine’s Assistant Editor Jen Garcia, who appeared on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live, weighed in on the split timeline.
“Kris Humphries had an idea. Kim actually told him about a week before that she was thinking about filing. They had talked about it. There were certainly bumps in their marriage going on for the two months that it existed. They had discussed it,” she told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.
Adding, “I think the surprise came with the timing. He didn’t know it was happening Monday morning.”
Jen, who attended the couple’s wedding in August, told Billy and Kit the nuptials felt legitimate.
“The two of them really did seem very much in love,” she explained. “It felt like a real wedding and it felt genuine.”
Also on Wednesday’s “Today” show appearance, Jenner claimed that the former couple and the Kardashian family did not profit off the wedding, which was broadcast on E!.
“One of the rumors is that we sold the television rights for millions of dollars – not true. We profited, she profited from the wedding? Absolutely false,” she said.
Adding, “They made some money for the pictures that were sold and things like that, but at the end of the day, that money went towards the wedding and Kim had to pay a great deal of money [for the balance of the wedding.] We don’t sell television rights.”
When pressed by Ann about how much money the couple made from selling their wedding photos, Jenner claimed, “Less than a million, more than half a million dollars.”
Previous reports have suggested Kim made nearly $15 million off of her televised wedding special.
