Kim Yu-Na Wins ‘Style Star’ Gold!

South Korean figure skater Kim Yu-Na glided her way to the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and also dazzled us with her stylish outfits on the ice, winning her not only the gold, but also the title of Access Hollywood’s newest Style Star.

Overall, 19-year-old Yu-Na totaled 228.56 points, shattering her own world record and landing impressive triple lutz-triple toe loops, triple flips and a triple salchow in an amazing display of elegance and grace.

But it was her bright blue halter figure skating outfit that won the gold with AH Nation. Yu-Na won the majority of the vote with 47%, beating the fashion stylings of fellow competitors. Canada’s Joannie Rochette won AH Nation’s vote for the style silver, with USA’s Rachael Flatt coming in third with the fashion bronze.

The pressure that Yu-Na felt on the ice was a pressure she shared with her entire team – even her costume designer.

“We are all going through this together,” her coach Brian Orser told NBC. “I mean, I feel pressure… even the woman who makes her costumes, she feels pressure because she wants the best and most beautiful costumes on the ice.”

Yu-Na wore an eye-catching blue one piece that was adorned by crystals. The outfit was gathered towards the bottom, which helped give it movement with every twirl, jump and flip that Yu-Na performed.

One thing is for sure – Yu Na was the winner in both style and skill.

“Truly I still can’t believe that I did what I wanted to do at the Olympics,” Yu-Na told the Associate Press. “I have been dreaming about this moment and can’t believe that this is not a dream anymore.”
