Brad Paisley and wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley were the victims of an online hoax, but the “Nashville” actress still believes most people mean well.
Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle spoke with Kimberly about why she and Brad came forward about their experience with a mother who claimed her daughter was dying of cancer.
“It’s over with for me,” she explained. “I don’t think about it anymore.”

On Wednesday’s “Nightline,” Brad and Kimberly opened up about how they began communicating with the mother via email, phone and text messages until the woman told the couple that her daughter had died. The star couple was even shown photos of a little girl, who was actually an entirely different person in another state.
“We really wanted to come out and talk about it publicly just to draw attention to what can happen so that people are aware,” she said. “When they put their kids online, pictures of their kids online, things like this can happen.”
Adding, “And also just to raise awareness of what’s possible now on the Internet.”
Eventually, Brad and Kimberly discovered they had been duped when the woman refused give them her address when Kimberly wanted to send flowers to the supposed mourning mother.
Despite their experience, Kimberly still thinks most people have good intentions.
“I still believe people are good at heart,” she said.
