Kirsten Storms Talks General Hospital 50th, Working With Soap Dad Jack Wagner

Kirsten Storms wasn’t around when “General Hospital” started, but she can still appreciate the show’s 50th anniversary, which takes place this coming Monday.

“I think just the fact that the show has been around for 50 years says a lot,” Kirsten told Access Hollywood when we visited the “General Hospital” set as they began to film the Nurses’ Ball. “I think there’s some cast members here who have been here almost the entire time. But I’ve only been on soaps, I think, 13 or 14 years now, which still seems like a long time. So, it’s just crazy to me that this show has been around for that long and to see some of the vets come back and revisit some of the storylines — even ones I remember from when I was little, that I would see when my mom would watch – it’s crazy. It brings back a lot of cool memories.”

Kirsten plays Maxie Jones on the show, and the return of Jack Wagner to “GH” has meant scenes with the legendary soap star, who plays her dad – Frisco Jones.

“I love working with Jack. I was definitely nervous when I first met him,” she told Access. “My mom watched ‘Melrose Place’ when I grew up… But, he’s amazing and talking to him has been great. He’s had a lot of crazy life experiences and we’ve been able to put some of that stuff into our scenes with each other. So it’s been great. I love the dynamic with Kristina [Wagner, who plays Maxie’s mom, Felicia] and Jack. [It] has been really cool to see them together again.”

Although it has been fun to have her on-screen parents on the show, Kirsten recently said goodbye to Julie Marie Berman, who left the show – and the role of Lulu Spencer.

“I actually got to have Julie’s last scene with her, which was so emotional. We could barely look at each other,” Kirsten said of her pal’s “GH” departure. “She started a few months after I started. So I really do feel like my entire ‘General Hospital’ experience has been with her. I feel lost without her now, but I know we have a great actress coming in to pick [up] for Lulu and we’re just going to keep going with the story lines.”

Kirsten’s character, Maxie, will be attending the upcoming Nurses’ Ball, and she hinted at what’s to come when that episode airs.

“Just a lot of fun and maybe some skin – you’ll see,” she laughed.

“General Hospital” airs weekdays on ABC.
