Kris Allen: I’m ‘A Huge Supporter’ Of American Idol

“American Idol” Season 8 winner Kris Allen made headlines last month after comments he made seemingly suggested that the FOX series has run its course – comments he said were misconstrued.

The singer Tweeted about the incident last week, writing, “I would like for everyone to know that I would never say anything that degraded @AmericanIdol. I will always support the show. I will forever be thankful to what it has done for me. I get to make music for a living because of @AmericanIdol. How flippin cool is that?!”

When Kris stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Tuesday, he spoke further about his comments and “American Idol.”

“I’ve always been a huge supporter of the show, I was a huge fan of the show this year, I thought it was great,” he told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover. “I just wanted to put it out there that I’m not trying to degrade the show in any form or fashion.”

Kris acknowledged that winning the show comes with its challenges.

“The nice thing is that they give you an opportunity, but they’re throwing you into it,” he continued. “It definitely is a tough thing, but you have to have the right mind set.”

Adding, “If you surround yourself with the right people, then it turns out the way you want it to.”

Kris’s latest album, “Thank You Camellia,” is available now.
