Kristin Chenoweth Reacts To ‘Hunger Games’ Casting Rumors

The young adult trilogy “The Hunger Games,” written by Suzanne Collins, is being brought to the big screen by Lionsgate – and fans are already casting their vote on which stars should score the lead roles.

Access Hollywood caught up with Kristin Chenoweth Wednesday night in NYC at Us Weekly’s 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers party and asked her about the Entertainment Weekly poll, in which fans voted her as their top pick to play the character Effie.

“I’ve heard of the books – are you kidding?” Kristin responded, surprised by the news.

Kristin added, mock puffing on an imaginary cigarette, “I’d better get my agents on that because… I could do that part for sure!”

Kristin scored 51% in the viewer poll, beating out runner-up Emily Blunt.

The “Hunger Games” is still in its early stages, although it may have found its director.

Gary Ross is reportedly in early talks to direct the first movie of the trilogy, according to Deadline.

The third book in the trilogy, “Mockingjay,” sold more than 450,000 copies in its first week of sales in late August, and debuted at number one on The New York Times fiction bestseller list.
