Kurt Warner’s Breast Cancer Tribute Cut Down On ‘Dancing’

NFL players may be sporting pink throughout October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, but recent NFL retiree Kurt Warner wasn’t able to completely join in the tribute while competing on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Shortly before Monday night’s competition show, the former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Tweeted that the show wouldn’t let him carry out the pink tribute as he had planned.

“OK, so they made me take off part of my tribute 4 Cancer, but trying 2 work something else out! Either way, I am fighting & praying 4 u all!” Kurt Tweeted.

Backstage, after the show, Kurt told Access Hollywood that he understood why the show said “No” to his pink passion.

“I know and understand that a lot of people have what they want to stand behind and the show doesn’t want to become something where everybody’s got their issue every week so they weren’t going to let me wear the ribbon,” he said.

Kurt did manage to show his support in a subtler way – he wore a pink tie and a pink flower pinned to his pocket, something that made him happy.

“We were still able to add the pink in there because we know it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month and we wanted to send a shout out to all those people that have dealt with that because I think so many of us have been affected one way or the other whether it’s directly or indirectly and we’re just hoping for the best,” he said.

A rep for ABC said they weren’t commenting when contacted by Access.
