Kym Johnson: Prepping Something ‘Very Special’ For The Hoff’s ‘Dancing’ Return

He may have taken ‘Hoff early on in the competition this season, but David Hasselhoff is planning a big return to “Dancing with the Stars” for this week’s finale.

As expected, David will return with the rest of the cast for the Season 11 finale, which wraps up on Monday and Tuesday night on ABC, and the Hoff’s professional partner, Kym Johnson, said fans will be in for a treat.

“I’ve been working with him all week. We have something very special planned,” Kym told AccessHollywood.com. “We may have been the first ones out, but this routine is gonna blow everyone away.”

While the Hoff’s clunky ballroom moves got him the boot during Week 1 of “DWTS,” all the way back in September, Kym said that during his time away, David’s learned some new moves and that the superstar isn’t afraid to use them.

“Right now, with the routine that we’ve got, he’s coming along really well and I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people,” she said. “He’s having a lot of fun with it. He has me laughing the whole rehearsal.”

Re-teaming with David in preparation for the finale, has brought back thoughts for Kim of what could have been with the former “America’s Got Talent “judge.

“I just had so many fun things I wanted to do [on Season 11 with David] because he’s such a big personality and he’s not afraid to sort of have a laugh and just put himself out there,” she said.

While Kym didn’t make it through the full season with the Hoff, the Season 9 ballroom champ (she won the mirrorball a year ago with Donny Osmond), has been busy, gearing up for the release of two new DVDs—“Dancing with the Stars: Ballroom Buns & Abs” and “Dancing with the Stars: Fat Burning Cardio Dance.” Although the two calorie-torching workouts bring her DVD total to about 6, Kim says that these two are special because the leggy Australian bombshell helped create the moves for the first time.

“I co-choreographed it, which was really, really fun, because I got to actually take what we do on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ and turn that into a cardio workout,” she said.

On the first of the two new releases, Kym dedicates one section to an Argentine tango with a chair. She admits she actually came up with the moves in her own kitchen.

“I had my kitchen chair and I started trying to create moves on the chair, which was quite funny,” she laughed. “Yeah, I was really proud of that one, it was really fun to do.”

Having been involved with the workout series for a few years now, Kym revealed a little secret — one former “Dancing” alum actually used earlier “Dancing” DVDs to get ready for the show.

“[When] Kristi Yamaguchi was getting ready to do ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ she did the first fitness DVDs,” Kym told Access of the Olympian who went on to mirrorball glory.

“That how she got ready for the show, which is very funny to me and she like, knew the samba and all the different dances because of the fitness DVDs.”
