LA City Attorney Files Charges Against Kiefer Sutherland

Kiefer Sutherland found himself in hot water earlier today when the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office filed driving under the influence charges against the “24” star.

Sutherland was charged with driving under the influence and driving with a .08% or above alcohol level according to a spokesperson for the City Attorney’s Office.

The Canadian actor was stopped by police after making an illegal U-Turn in West LA, early Tuesday morning.

Sutherland was arrested after he tested above .08 and released after posting $25,000 bail.

Prosecutors told Access Hollywood on Friday, that they believe Kiefer’s latest arrest constitutes a violation of the terms of the actor’s probation from a 2004 conviction for driving under the influence.

“At this time we cannot comment on what specific recommendations we will make to the court in this case or the probation violation case,” LA City Attorney’s Office Director of Communications Nick Velasquez noted in a statement.

If convicted of the new charge, Sutherland must serve a minimum of 96 hours in jail on the DUI charge and up to a maximum of one year in jail and $1,000 fine. However if convicted of violating his probation for the ’04 charge, a judge could add on an extra 6 months.
