L.A. Reid Tapped By Simon Cowell As First ‘X Factor’ Judge; Enrique Iglesias To Host?

The faces of “The X Factor” appear to be taking shape.

As a slew of names continue to be whispered as possible judges for Simon Cowell’s upcoming reality series, the first seat at the judges’ table has been filled.

Island Def Jam boss Antonio “L.A.” Reid has been tapped as the first judge on “The X Factor,” Access Hollywood has confirmed.

The Hollywood Reporter was first to report the news on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, Simon spoke to AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman about some of the other celebrity names on his short list of choices to round out the judging panel.

At the time, Simon confirmed to Laura that George Michael, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul were all being considered for the show, but no one was a lock.

“Are they calling you or are you calling them?” Laura asked the British reality TV mogul.

“Both. And then new people come along… [Two days ago], we met somebody who I’ve never met before in my life, who I just loved,” Simon revealed at the time. “And that’s why it’s good to kind of delay the process. It’s not about necessarily the TV show per se, it’s people. You genuinely gotta trust that they’re gonna be able to do the job you’re paying them to do. And like I said, a hit-maker who worked in America and has had experience, I think is crucial to this panel as well.”

While L.A. Reid awaits his fellow judges, the show may have also found the man who will take on hosting duties – Enrique Iglesias.

According to Deadline, the “I Like It” singer has been approached to pull Ryan Seacrest duty on the new FOX series, although it’s not clear that he wants the job. A rep for Enrique was not immediately available for comment on the report when contacted by Access Hollywood on Wednesday.

Enrique previously performed for Simon during the UK version of “The X Factor” in 2010.

FOX had no comment on the Enrique report when contacted by Access Hollywood on Wednesday.
